Photographer/Teacher of Singing

From the age of at least 17 Jeanine Vitale has consciously recognized that her main reason for existence has been to discover, learn to weave together, and then to teach the uniting of the arts and spirituality. This realization came about originally through music and singing, leading her to degrees in Vocal Performance and Education and a career in concert singing and opera. Somewhat later, because of a severe neuromuscular illness in her late 20’s, she rediscovered her childhood love of dance which then became her therapy and healing. This lead to the eventual creation of a touring ensemble of sacred dancers, singers and actors, Window On The Heart. The ensemble, under her management and artistic direction, lasted for 17 years during which she was also able to serve as conductor, and occasional composer and choreographer. During that tenure she began photographing doing much of her work in black and white. But, after only a few years, she had to abandon that art form to care for her husband upon his diagnosis with ALS. That difficult journey lasted over 9 years. Following his death over four years ago the camera became her new way back to life.

Ever conscious of her original commitment to the wedding of art and spirituality she treats each picture with reverence – aware that one can work very hard at a skill but the final results are often not in our control. It is that mysterious other force that she is continually striving to make visible by observing with intensity, then letting go. She feels that art, in all its forms, is the attempt to bring the untouchable mystery into the physical realm. In its connection from one soul to another, in its reaching out of one’s heart, it becomes compassion, saying “You are not alone”. It also provides for the observer, and certainly for the creator, the vital opportunity to stop time by focusing on the present, and thereby giving one a glimpse of eternity.

Prism Point Photography, formed in 2005, is the latest endeavor in Ms.Vitale’s artistic life and is rapidly growing to include decorative photography, portrait work, events, stock photography, and product photography. In addition to exhibits and contests, she is creating a greeting card line with many of her works. Feeling strongly about giving back to the community, she photographs for various charities - the Muscular Dystrophy Assoc., Rebuilding Worcester, St. Rose of Lima parish and others. She’s a member of CIPNE (Commercial and Industrial Photographers of New Eng.), the Westboro Art Gallery, Women’s Art Forum of Hopkinton – AND teaches singing at her studio in Northboro as well as at the Cultural Arts Alliance in Hopkinton.
